Annual Medical Missions Benefit
Join Alaska Medical Missions for their 2017 Serving WITH Others benefit event. The evening will include: dinner (provided by the Downtown Soup Kitchen Hope Center), silent auction, live music, and dessert along with information and engagement opportunities with partners that Alaska Medical Missions serves WITH around the world.
Alaska Medical Missions is pleased to announce Dr. Allan Sawyer, MD as this year’s keynote speaker. The focus of his presentation: Serving Outside Your Comfort Zone.
Dr. Sawyer has served as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center for 23 years. He graduated from Stanford University and received his medical degree from Oral Roberts University School of Medicine. He volunteers with World Medical Mission to serve developing countries with proper resources for medical care. World Medical Mission is the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian-based organization that has worked to improve life in impoverished countries since 1970. World Medical Mission sends hundreds of volunteer physicians and dentists to 45 mission hospitals and clinics around the world each year. It is also a lifeline to dozens of mission hospitals by providing millions of dollars’ worth of critically needed equipment and supplies.
With Samaritan’s Purse / World Medical Missions, Dr. Sawyer has traveled to provide medical care on three continents in such countries as: Papua New Guinea, Haiti, Burundi, Kenya, Togo and Iraq. Alaska Medical Missions is grateful to receive him and very happy to provide this opportunity to learn from his experiences!
