Alaska Medical Missions 2012 Annual Report

Alaska Medical Missions 2012 Annual Report

Celebrating 2012 and Moving Forward in 2013

A Letter From Our Director

What a great year 2012 has been to partner WITH others through Alaska Medical Missions!

Alaska Medical Missions has continued its mission of gathering medical supplies and equipment and making them available to individuals and groups with compassionate concerns for people around the world. In 2012, more than 50 individuals or groups took over 15,000 pounds of fully functional medical supplies and equipment from our staging facility in Anchorage and have in turn seen to it that those medical resources were shared with people in communities in need in over 30 countries. Since 1999 we have served WITH others to deliver almost 13 million dollars-worth of donated medical supplies to communities in need in over 90 nations!

Recently, one of our volunteers packed up a box of medical supplies for some friends with Coffee for Kids in Honduras. Little did he or anyone know how vital some of the ventilator tubing he included would be…

“To the Alaskan team: The second I opened the box with the ventilator tubing, Isabel took one of the tubes down to the pediatric ER, there was a little boy who needed to use a ventilator, but they didn’t have any tubing. They knew that we had tubing coming and the nursing staff kept the little boy alive until the tubing arrived.”

Thanks volunteers. Thank you, Coffee for Kids. And THANK YOU to EVERYONE who consistently supports and serves WITH Alaska Medical Missions in our efforts to bring aid to the nations!

Our Board of Directors has some exciting plans to increase our effectiveness in 2013 and beyond. We have Board positions open, volunteer opportunities available, medical supplies to send with you if you’re traveling abroad, and as a non-profit organization, we rely on generous donor support to continue our work of providing medical resources and professional support to communities in need around the world.

We believe Alaska Medical Missions is a great investment of anyone’s time, talent, and financial resources and we are honored when you join us in some way to fulfill our mission! If you have any questions, please contact me directly. I look forward to discovering how we might serve WITH each other to continue bringing aid to the nations!

Around the World

A recent trip with AMM: South Sudan, Spring 2012
We worked in a village of a view thousand named Mudabi. It is about 50 miles south west of Yei, a medium size city. We were the first surgical team allowed into the new country which is exactly one year old today! What an experience! Being in Africa is like nothing else. There is so much need and margin for God to work in their lives as well as ours. It seriously changed my life, and I hope and pray God will lead me back there for a semi-permanent full time roll. The supplies I received from Alaska Medical Missions worked great and were part of a list of supplies that were still needed by the team. So it was perfect! We all appreciate your help, prayers, and support! The surgeon is planning another trip this next February which I will try to work into my rotation schedule. Thank you again! Sean W. Richardson MS3
